Special to the SunFor the 6th time, Kern Valley High School Alumni from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s will meet for an all-school reunion at the Kernville Inn from Sept. 24 through 26. This event, which has been held every two years since 2000, draws a big crowd for all or part of the three-day event. More than 100 classmates from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona and California are currently registered for the event, and registration forms are still coming in. The “oldest” alumni expected is from the Class of 1944. The Class of 1960 will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of their graduation, and Nina Bishop Sharp has something special planned for those attending from that year.

Valley Fest slated for Oct. 16
The Kern River Valley Chamber of Commerce will once again hold its popular “Valley Fest” on Saturday, Oct. 16. at the Linda Kissack Ball Park in Lake Isabella at the intersection of Lake Isabella Boulevard and Elizabeth Norris Road.

Living Green Festival kick-off meeting Sept. 14
Kern River Valley Revitalization is holding a meeting for potential volunteers to talk about the next Living Green KRV Festival March 17-27. The meeting will be followed by two short films, “For the Price of a Cup of Coffee” and “Ubuntu”. We will meet at 6:00 p.m., at the Kernville Community Room (next to the Kernville Chamber.)

Sept. 15 morning delay for KVHS
On Wednesday, Sept. 15, Kern Valley High School will be on a morning delay schedule for Staff Development. School begin at 9:20 a.m. Morning bus routes will delayed one hour, 15 minutes, with 1st period beginning at 9:20 a.m.

'Digital 395' Broadband Project awarded funds
The US Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced today the award of a broadband infrastructure investment grant to the California Broadband Cooperative, Inc. (CBC). The grant, totaling $81.1 million, will fund the construction of “Digital 395,” a middle‐mile fiber‐optic network between Barstow, California and Carson City, Nev.

Cemetery District repeals controversial ‘Coordination’ resolution
At its Tuesday, Aug. 17 Regular Meeting, the Kern River Valley Public Cemetery District unanimously repealed the controversial Resolution #119, effectively dissolving the Citizen’s Advisory Committee and its Board set up to help coordinate with federal and state Agencies.
